My approach to the privilege of doing psychotherapy has been developed over the past 30 years. My work reflects a deep belief in the capacity of all of us to find paths to our authentic selves. Quite often, change occurs in response to the unsought life crises which challenge our abilities, enabling us to grow new strengths and flexibility. Because each of us is unique, our work will be shaped with sensitivity to your presenting problems, and will be flexible in response to the process of therapy.  Together we will collaborate on setting appropriate goals, length of therapy, and type of approach.  From time to time we will re-evaluate to determine what progress has been made, and if any changes need to be made in format of the therapy. My mission is not only for my clients to alleviate pain and other symptoms, but to develop a deeper understanding about themselves, skills to cope better, and ways to change behavior patterns that are no longer working.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP). I am also a Board Certified Coach (BCC).  If you are interested in Life Coaching or would like to know more, please contact me.  Basically, life coaching is partnering with someone to achieve your goals, without going into the past.  We can move forward to make changes in life with action-taking alone, and your life coach can help you do that!  You coach keeps you forward-moving and accountable, so you reach goals you haven't been able to reach before.

In addition to continuing education required of all licensed therapists, I have actively sought additional advanced training throughout my career.  Most recently, I received Level II Gottman Couples Therapy Training.  Gottman Couples therapy is world reknown for its basis in many years of research on couples to discover what makes a relationship thrive, and what will surely end it.  I can help you make your relationship happy and healthy, by using skills taught in this type of couples therapy.  I also am a consultant and supervisor, most often in my expertise with eating disorders treatment and group therapy.  Most importantly, I continue to experience a sense of satisfaction and privilege in the process of being a therapist.  My warm, non-judgmental approach allows my clients to trust me and the process.  A good relationship is the foundation of our work.
