Great Lakes Psychology Group is a multi-disciplinary outpatient psychotherapy and counseling group dedicated to helping children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families confront the common problems of everyday living. Our practice was founded in 2011 with the goal of providing high quality, multidisciplinary counseling while maintaining complete confidentiality.

With nearly 50 masters and doctoral-level psychologists, social workers, counselors, chemical dependency specialists and marriage and family therapists, we are able to provide an unparalleled level of service to those seeking help for a wide array of presenting problems and diagnoses. Our counselors utilize scientifically-proven psychological treatment methods and individualized treatment planning to ensure the optimal outcome for each patient.

Our Specialties:

Depression: Today, nearly 1 in 10 people in America experience some sort of depression, or a depression-related condition, according to the Center for Disease Control (CDC). We help individuals better understand their depression, how it happens and how it affects them.

Anxiety: Anxiety can manifest in several forms for various reasons, and should be treated by a professional to reduce compulsive and damaging behaviors. Symptoms: fear, dread, sweating, nausea, trembling, heart palpitations.

PTSD: A form of anxiety stemming from trauma. Symptoms: fear, nightmares, memory loss, difficulty connecting with others, avoidance of triggering situations, depression, difficulty managing life activities. Look for these symptoms after a traumatic experience of any kind.

Eating Disorders: Eating disorders most often occur in teens, but can happen at any age to males or females. Often coexists with depression & anxiety. Symptoms: low weight, sudden weight loss, persistent sore throat, worn tooth enamel, dehydration, acid reflux, electrolyte imbalance.

Substance Abuse: We provide counseling for all forms of addiction to alcohol and other drugs. Wework proactively with physicians prescribing opiates to mitigate chances of substance abuse / addiction problems. If you are prescribed optiates or suboxone therapy, we will work with your doctor to break the cycle or avoid the "slippery slope" altogether.


Our Counseling Services:

Individual Counseling: Individual therapy is often the treatment of choice for those suffering with depression, anxiety, stress, anger, grief, recurrent relationship problems, job problems, chronic feelings of emptiness, dissatisfaction, or persistent feelings of dissatisfaction and lack of fulfillment.

Marriage & Couples Counseling: We help couples identify the common recurring cycles of conflict and emotional withdrawal that characterize distressed marriages, depression, sexual dysfunction, anxiety, and harmful or addictive tendencies. Many of our marriage counselors have completed advanced training in Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy, a scientifically-proven method found to be effective in a large majority of cases.

Family Counseling: In family therapy, the family is looked at as a whole. Issues such as ADD/ADHD, addiction, depression, or anxiety are dealt with on a familial level. The therapist will examine the impact of the family dynamics on the children, teenagers and marriage within the family. Depending on your therapist, the family may meet as a whole with supplemental individual sessions for members of the family.

Parenting Support: Our therapists are versed in parenting challenges and strategies, as well as child developmental and behavioral concerns. Topics: ADD/ADHD, behavioral problems, learning challenges, bullying strategies

Psychological Assessment: Reasons for assessment include: children for ADD/ADHD or learning disabilities, psychological and personality assessment for the purpose of diagnosis and treatment planning, substance abuse evaluation for driver's license appeal, child custody evaluation as part of a custody dispute in a divorce, or psychological evaluation prior to gastric exclusion surgery.
