Benefits of Working with Sears
Taylor, you get…
Balanced approach. My goal is to
help you no longer be dependent on prescription drugs, yet I also have seen
medications provide relief at critical times in a client’s life. There is a
holistic inter-connection of body, mind, and spirit. Problems occur when these
connections get out of balance.
Rapid Results. The unique
combination of therapies that I use helps you resolve your pain very quickly so
that you may go on to living a joyful, functional life.
Honesty. I will try to keep your
expectations of therapy realistic. If I cannot help you, I will not charge you
for my time unless you are getting value from our time together. The
relationship between the client and the therapist is vital to the success of
nay therapy or relationship for that manner.
Understanding. This may seem to
be a clique when listed in the counseling business. However, since I have had
so many different careers and life experiences, I can empathize with many
professions: military, sales, management, engineer. I also have experience as a
son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Wounded Healer. I have gone
through many rough patches in my life. I have been fired, injured, humiliated,
and just plain failed. I have also been unjustly persecuted and harassed. I
battle with obesity and understand addiction. I have lost people dear to me
through death and separation.
Specifically, How will I help you to improve your life?
I combine the strongest elements
of the six strongest therapies for uncovering, resolving, and healing past wounds
to your psyche aka traumas. Since so many addictions, anxieties, fears, and
sorrows are rooted in past traumatic events, a person can have a far better
life when these bleeding wounds are healed. We heal these together!!
Narrative Therapy: where you tell me what you want to
EMDR (Eye Movement
Desensitization Reprocessing) where we use guided eye movements to bring traumatic
events to the surface.
Gestalt Empty Chair. A method
where you can relieve a past event and relationship in virtual reality in order
to resolve unfinished business. This can feel so real that clients feel they
went back in time.
OEI (Observational Existential
Integration). A more in depth guided eye movement originating from EMDR but
much more effective because it locates problems and neutralizes them even more
Logotherapy. This is where we
discuss the meaning and purpose of your life and what foundational principles
give you a reason to live.
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy). This is the gold standard in therapy, today. It is based upon the
concept of the little boy who is afraid to walk by a grave yard, so whistles to
distract himself from his fear. If we can act bravely and move forward, our
problems and anxieties will eventually decrease. Our emotions caught up with
What will a session be like?
The first goal is for you to feel
safe and comfortable.
Next, I encourage you to be honest
and to trust me.
I then guide you to courageously
uncover past pain so it can be healed.
Finally, I help you find ways to
(re)construct your life so that life is good.
And we will usually enjoy one
good laugh together so that you’ll feel better about your progress in life than
when you came in.
