You are not alone. Many of us reach a place where despite our own efforts and intentions, we can't seem to find a way out of suffering or a clear way forward to the future we hope for, at least not alone. I  have had the good fortune of finding wise and caring help through these impasses, and have committed myself to providing the same for others.
About me.  I didn't start out as a therapist. After getting a B.A. from Barnard College and graduating summa cum laude from Brooklyn Law School, I practiced corporate law in New York and Paris. Pro Bono work with victims of domestic violence led me to get my MSW.  And my learning never stopped.  I completed post-graduate certification in couples and family therapy at the Ackerman Institute and continue psychoanalytic training.  I am also a trained divorce mediator.
Approach to individual therapy.  I believe in the power of healing conversations. Through our own non-judgmental, open dialogue, we will work towards resolving old wounds that may be blocking your way and to forging new paths to your goals. My approach draws on a combination of insight and new experiences in the here-and-now. Our shared curiosity about your current emotions and, where relevant, finding linkages to your past, will help you feel like less of a hostage to your own feelings and will increase your self awareness. At the end of the day though, it's a true connection that heals.  By feeling seen, understood and accepted, you can start to do the same for yourself.  Anxiety, depression and self-doubt can start to melt away and be replaced by a sense of a wholeness and vitality.  Specialities:

Approach to couples therapy. I am a certified couples and family therapist and have been working for over a decade to help people transform relationships.  Whether you are stuck in a cycle of conflict or you have lost a way to connect, I offer a safe and structured place where you can unwind old patterns and rekindle intimacy. We will deconstruct conflict to help you understand how each of your vulnerabilities and approaches to communication are keeping you stuck.  I will coach you on more effective ways to create connection and closeness. Where there are specific challenges or questions, like those around fertility, life stage transitions, co-parenting, I will help you clarify and communicate your hopes and fears, and find mutually compatible choices.  I also help couples who are unsure of whether to stay together come to a calm and clear decision.  Specialties:
