I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology in 1994. My family and I moved to Gainesville, Fl. for me to complete my internship at the VA Hospital. We have been here ever since. I became licensed to practice in 1997. Since then, I have been in private practice, working with a variety of issues, from marital counseling, to grief counseling, to geriatrics. I was trained in EMDR, which has proven to be effective in working through trauma. My primary method has been in working with cognitive behavioral therapy. I have long held an interest in Christian counseling, which is most effective in dealing with life's worst experiences. I worked for a time at Hospice, providing social work services to multiple patients and their families. For about a year, I worked at the local community college, in their counseling center. I also taught two classes as an adjunct professor. I have worked for a number of years providing counseling to nursing home residents, working for a company that contracts mental health services. An outpatient geriatric counseling center was another work place. Working with older people is very rewarding and something that I continue to do at nursing homes. I am committed to working with whatever client I have to helping them to help themselves in achieving the quality of life for which they yearn.
