As a therapist, I draw on a range of approaches to help you
acquire the skills and experience to deal with these problems in a healthier
manner. This may include cognitive
behavioral and interpersonal theory.
I tailor my approach to each client’s specific problems with the goal of
achieving a satisfactory outcome.
During therapy, we may discuss a range of topics such as
current problems, family history, addictions, occupational concerns,
relationship issues, grief, depression, mood swings, anger, impulse control,
guilt, shame, trust, anxiety and other areas of concern.
I’ll ask questions aimed at our understanding what thoughts,
feelings, beliefs and behaviors currently influence you. Some of these may have outgrown their
usefulness.
Often times, the adaptations we used when we were younger to
get through life no longer work as we get older. I’ll try and help you understand how you came to think and
feel as you do and how to move forward with new skills.
We’ll work together as a team to help you develop new
strategies and tools for dealing with specific behaviors. I encourage you to be
an active participant in this process. To enhance your therapy, I may give you
tasks to perform between sessions and suggest books or CD’s.
I work with individuals and marital/couples depending on the
nature of your concerns.
