I am a Registered Social Worker and have a Master’s degree
in Counselling from City University. As
well, I am working toward a Gottman Marriage Therapy certification. My work experience includes mental health and
psychiatric issues (depression and anxiety), women in abusive relationships,
single session counselling, grief and loss issues, parenting issues, couples
counselling and helping all ages and genders of clients negotiate various life
transitions and the stress that results from those transitions.
My personal credo is this - I believe that all of us come
into this world with various talents, gifts, and strengths. I also believe we are
born with traits that keep us locked into unhelpful behaviours that keep us from fulfilling our personal goals for work and relationships. Not only are we born with unhelpful traits,
most of us have had life experiences that may reinforce negative ideas we have
about our own ability to succeed – whether as a parent, as a partner or in the
workplace. I can help you uncover the traits that hold you back as well as strengthening the gifts that make you one of a kind.
My initial step in helping you is to establish rapport and trust and to demonstrate to you that I am capable of understanding your particular problem and how
it impacts your life. Secondly is then
to be certain we are working toward the same positive outcome and that this
work fits with your personality and abilities.
As a therapist, I feel I have the skills and compassion to
help you or you and your partner make the changes that will bring you increased
happiness and personal success.
