Tanya is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and is
certified with the Professional Association of Canadian Christian Counsellors
(PACCC).
Tanya’s approach is to initially spend some time obtaining
your history and reviewing the issues that have brought you to counselling.
Insight-oriented counselling can be very helpful in understanding the
underlying issues you face and to understand the factors that have resulted in why
you are the way you are. However, the main focus of therapy will be using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); on creating
goals (S.M.A.R.T. goals); and then providing support and accountability in
reaching those goals. Therapeutic “homework” will be given at the end of each
session to assist you in making steps towards your goals between sessions. An example
may be a communication exercise to practice between sessions.
Tanya’s goal for each client is to use session time
efficiently so that there is not a requirement for long-term therapy. Completion
of homework in between sessions will accelerate your goals, as well as having
the accountability of the next scheduled counselling session as a motivator to
make change. Tanya’s motto is “ready for
change” and believes that when counselling is approached with a positive
mindset followed by taking action regarding areas of our life that need change,
the result is dramatic change.
