that the Clinic provides, the coordinator will provide them with an alternative
contact which might be a hospital, community agency, or other health service
provider.

Carolee Sadavoy BScN.,
RN., OHN., PHN
Re
gistered Nurse
Carolee has a Bachelor of Science
in Nursing from the University of Toronto, and is a member in good standing
with the College of Nurses of Ontario. In every nursing position in her
almost 40 years of service, she has enthusiastically shared her valuable knowledge
and skills with compassion, respect and enthusiasm. She began her nursing
career in the Hamilton Wentworth County as a public health nurse, offering
guidance to new mothers and school age children. She attained additional
expertise when employed for more than 14 years as a Nurse Practitioner in
family practice settings where in a collaborative role with staff physicians
she honed herphysical assessment skills and
developed psycho social counselling/mental health experience under the
direction of the supervising team Psychiatrist. She brings to the Clinic
comprehensive workplace rehabilitation and accommodation experience includingfunctional abilities evaluations, return-to-work and
accommodation expertise and related strategies that help both employees and
employers.
Caroleehas
initiated unique wellness programs, coordinated and overseen smoking cessation
programs, weight control programs, prenatal and well baby programs. As an
Occupational Health and Disability Nurse she managed short term disability in a
variety of public and private settings where she advised and assisted
department managers/supervisors with providing suitable and safe work
accommodations when physical and/or mental health conditions were temporarily
or permanently compromised. On an as needed basis she refers to family
practitioners and other specialists, and providescomprehensive
referral notes so that documented mental restrictions canbe updated and new recommendations provided based on
nursing observations and evidence. As needed, and mutually agreed upon
with the individual in a partnership, meetings with clients are arranged in a
variety of settings such as their home, workplace or treating health
practitioner’s office.
Carolee strongly believes that a
health care provider is as good as the follow-up he/she provides and advocates
that treatments offered be suitable, timely and supportive. Unlike many
physical disabilities, issues involving emotional health and wellbeing are
oftentimes well hidden and that invisibility can go unnoticed by the person,
family member and the workplace until significant absenteeism and family
relationship eruptions emerge.
Carolee has helped countless
workers navigate through the realities of our health care system which often
result in lengthy wait times leaving the client feeling alone, frustrated and
scared, uncertain of where and how to access help for him/herself or family
member.
Throughout her career Carolee has
been a strong advocate for accessible, comprehensive and holistic health care
in all age groups, particularly the vulnerable, and has advanced quality health
promotion activities and safety initiatives. Carolee strongly believes
that communication, through words and action, fairness, flexibility and
creative thinking are critical components and determinants in helping
individuals in need.
