Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center View Specialties

Timberline Knolls is a leading residential treatment center for women and girls. The center is located in Lemont, Illinois, and serves adolescent girls age 12 and older and adult women. We provide treatment for eating disorders, addiction, mental health concerns, and co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, postpartum depression, and borderline personality disorder.

Our campus is located on 43 wooded acres that provide a sense of calm reflection for our residents. Amenities include reflecting ponds, a historic art studio, comfortable housing lodges, and a lake. We strive to provide a setting that inspires a sense of comfort as residents begin their recovery journey.

Programs at Timberline Knolls include residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient. We are both a mental health treatment center and an addiction treatment center.

Our residential program serves women and girls who are struggling with symptoms of anorexia, body dysmorphia, food addiction, laxative misuse, and more. Residential care begins with a comprehensive evaluation to determine a resident’s individual needs. Our dedicated staff develops an individualized treatment plan that includes the most effective therapies for each person. Therapies may include dialectical behavior therapy, recreational activities, supervised outings, and other modalities that help residents develop a healthier relationship with food.

One unique aspect of Timberline Knolls is our TK Academy for girls. TK Academy is an on-campus school staffed by certified, specially trained teachers to provide residents with assistance in core subject areas. We are proud to provide residents with the opportunity to continue their education while they seek lifesaving treatment. We integrate academic and experiential components to create a dynamic curriculum students enjoy engaging in. We also provide extra assistance for students who need help with GED, ACT, SAT, and college placement tests. Starting June 2022, Timberline Knolls will also be offering a TK Academy summer program.

Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) serves women age 18 and older. It is designed to address mental health concerns, eating disorders, addiction, and trauma. The PHP is a structured environment that offers a daily schedule of therapies. Participants may return home at the end of the day or stay in our on-site facilities. Some patients may be admitted directly to the PHP, or it may be used as a step-down level of care for graduates of the Timberline Knolls residential program.

The intensive outpatient program (IOP) at Timberline Knolls offers flexibility for those who have completed a higher level of care but still need support in their recovery journey. Our IOP offers camaraderie and skill-building practice through daily group therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy as needed. Participants attend therapy groups for three hours each treatment day.
The alumnae, Christian, and family programs at Timberline Knolls each provide a unique opportunity for continued growth. Alumnae virtual support groups allow alumnae to stay connected. Any woman or girl who has completed our residential program is a welcome member of the alumnae group. The Christian program, named The Grace Program, is an optional program that integrates principles of Christianity into the overall recovery services. Family support is critical for long-term recovery from eating disorders, addiction, and other behavioral health concerns. Our family program offers counseling designed to strengthen the family unit and support each individual’s healing process.
