Velma Johnson has been in full-time private practice since April 2005 and has over 9 years previous experience working as a therapist with Catholic Social Services and a counselor with Lakeland College. Velma holds a Master of Science Degree specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy from Loma Linda University.  She  is a  registered social worker with the province of Alberta. She has specialized training in crisis intervention and Post Traumatic Stress.  She is certified in both Basic and Advanced Critical Incident Stress Management.

Velma also has specialized training in education from the Institute on Mediation of Divorce and Family Matters.  She is also an active member and Victim Services Advocate with the Battle River Victim Assistance program.  This is a police-based program for intervention with victims of crime and traumatic events.
