Coeur d'Alene is a great place for families to live and play. For summer fun, check out Wild Waters. Teenagers, children, mothers and fathers alike are bound to have a blast on the water slides and pools, and there's something for everyone from the toddlers on up. When it's too cold to swim outside, take them to Raptor Reef Indoor Water Park instead. Or, for some outdoor fun, why not rent a boat from Lake Charters? The kids get to come free on the guided sightseeing tours. The whole family will enjoy an outing to City Park, with it's wide open spaces, playgrounds, and beach. Why not pack a picnic lunch and make a day of it? And you'll have no need to worry about the children's education. Coeur d'Alene is home to fine schools from the collegiate level down. Your options include North Idaho College, Lake City High, Woodland Middle, Sorenson Elementary, and many other excellent schools.

Current Initiatives

The City of Coeur d'Alene has implemented a 10-year plan to end homelessness in the city. By engaging the community in a comprehensive response to this issue, the city hopes to expand the number of low-income housing units available in the city so everyone in need of safe and affordable housing has access to it. Increasing awareness of the issue, as well as finding funding for expanded programs for low-income families are two other primary goals of the program.
