I spent five years as the co-facilitator of an Intensive Outpatient Program at one of the best recovery centers in the country. I have extensive experience running relapse prevention, educational, affect regulation, and spirituality groups. Above all, I believe that people, given a safe, compassionate, non judging treatment resource will elect to change their behavior. My purpose is to assist people in their effort to narrow the discrepancy between thought and action until positive Thinking becomes Sober Action. A significant piece of the work I do is helping people learn to live with the emotions that arise when they are sober.

I have helped those that have a dual diagnosis of some substance use and perhaps Depression, some use and how it has negatively impacted your life, relationships, job etc. I do not work with severe alcoholism or addictions as this is a specialty that you need to find a credentialed professional for. Let's talk and be real honest so we can work, together to help, lead you out of bondage or lead you to someone who can.

I can refer you to LADAC, psychologists, social workers and others who treat substance abuse (drug and alcohol abuse) if that is what you are seeking. I do not provide these services per se, though of course these issues emerge in the course of individual therapy and marriage counseling. However, other behavioral "addictions" are addressed in my practice. So-called "internet addiction," "sexual addiction," "workaholism," "Facebook addiction," and so on. I put these in quotes because, intellectually, I debate the meaningfulness and utility of calling things "addictions." However, these are sources of problems in people's lives regardless of the labels, and can be challenging to change...
