I have come to know that food is a drug most available early in our lives and thus, if used to manage mood and escape the pain of our childhood, takes on the same nature as the chemical addiction. The recovery, because of needed regular contact, calls for a different approach. I don't use the abstinence model because of the resistance and weight -loss focus. I use the non-diet and intuitive eating/movement approach in my program.
