Registered Counselling Therapist / Registered Art Therapist
3621 Dutch Village Road, Halifax, NS
My experience includes family support, mental health, & bereavement issues. I was also trained as a life skills coach - relevant to attending to feelings such as anger, handling stress – fitting addictions treatment. I also have a strong background in social work as well as counselling skills & I have worked with psycho-educational groups, goal-oriented and narrative approaches as well as systems theory. My counselling style embraces creativity and integrative approaches & creative expression - art therapy, in particular, with its use of symbolic language - gives opportunity for indirect narratives is very apt for helping people through difficult transitions and with addictions.

Registered Counselling Therapist (RCT)
36 Brookshire Court - Suite 200 Brookshire Centre, Bedford, NS
I am an addiction specialist with over 20 years of addiction therapy experience and a PhD in addiction psychology. I use the bio-psycho-social-spiritual model and a holistic approach (in layman's terms - I work with each person as a unique individual). Some people benefit from 12 step approaches, other's do not. I have a wide range of tools in my tool box that help me to fine tune the treatment to the person - not the other way around. Recent brain imaging studies have convinced me that addiction is in the brain, not the bottle - and so I work extensively with people who have "process addictions" where gambling, sex, porn, internet, shopping, spending, and or gaming, are a problem.

Cetified Canadian Counseller

Are you under the control of an addiction and feel powerless to break free? Addiction is widespread, misunderstood and not your fault, but recovery is possible. Whether you are addicted to alcohol, drugs, food, sex, porn or gambling your addiction is not fulfilling you the way you hoped when you started. My treatment approach with addiction is to examine the promise the addiction has for you. We will listen to your dreams looking for the symbolic meaning of the addiction, giving you insight into your behaviour and the ability to control your addiction. I do counselling in addiction locally in Halifax, Nova Scotia and by e-counselling throughout North America.
