One is too many and a thousand is not enough... Addiction is our culture/society's way of dealing with the 'true desires of our hearts'. Stop beating yourself up, I am willing to bet that what started your addiction is not your fault. What matters now is us looking for the ways we can help you come into 'the fullness of life' that you are looking for!

My preferred method of working with addictions is to have clients become involved in a 12-step program in conjunction with receiving psychological services aimed at healing the emotional factors that drive the addiction. In the case of alcohol and drug use, attendance at a detox centre often needs to occur before significant progress can occur in therapy.

As devastating as an addiction may be, you can always overcome it. Accepting where you are in your own journey and committing to an intentional path towards health and well-being is all it takes to start your healing. Through the process of therapy, you will learn effective strategies that can empower you to change your detrimental addictive behaviours.

I use a collaborative strength based approach to deal with the topic of addiction both individually and with couples or family counselling. Motivational interviewing techniques help to move forward in managing the addiction. Clients will gain a better understanding of how addiction impacts the various areas of their lives and learn to incorporate healthy strategies to fight the pull of addiction.

I worked in a treatment centre and with concurrent disorders for approximately 13 years and I understand that there is alot more underlying addiction issues than just the addiction to a substance. I provide an opportunity to explore the underlying issues that cause addiction and to accompany you on a journey to rediscover a life without addiction and to enter into a life of self care and improved functioning.
