The road to addiction often begins with anxiety. I have been trained in EMDR for Addiction. I also run groups through the 12-Step Spiritual Journey. This is a blending of the Big Book of AA and the Bible. This text teaches us how to be in relationship with one another in healthy ways. Going through the text in a group setting allows use to learn from one another.

If you're concerned with a loved one's use/abuse/dependence on a substance, it can be a scary place. How can you help? How can you get them to stop? How can you get control of your own life again? Over the years, I've helped clients figure out their role when they love someone who uses substances. I will help you figure out your options and make a plan that makes sense for your unique situation. If you're the one using or has hurt others with your past use, you will learn how to take better care of yourself and those you love.

Do you control it, or does it control you? This is the question I ask when investigating addiction. I am a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT) Candidate. I have had special training in the treatment of sexual addiction, including addiction to pornography. The severity of some sexual addictions is better treated in a treatment program, but often it is something that you can gain control of in a setting such as ours. I can also serve as a resource after treatment. I do in-office and online counseling. You can self-register and self-schedule at mnonlinecounseling.com.

Our graduate-trained therapists often work with addiction, and can provide counseling for this in an office setting. We most frequently deal with addiction to alcohol, smoking, over-eating, and pornography. However, we are prepared to work with a variety of addictive and/or compulsive behaviors. Several of our therapists are trained in a groundbreaking therapy called EMDR, which is endorsed by the World Health Organization as one of only two therapies recommended to treat trauma. In recent years EMDR has also been successful in treating addictive behaviors, and helps address the emotional component behind them. Once reduced or eliminated, underlying trauma is healed to help the change last.
