I have worked with many clients while they also participated in a 12 step, inpatient or outpatient treatment program. Addiction programs like AA or NA are excellent for seeking recovery but can often lack in exploring the feelings and traumas that came before the addiction. I have seen this apply to drug and alcohol addiction as well as addiction to porn or sex. I would like to work with clients in talk therapy who are at the same time in a recovery process if the addiction is current.
