Rooted in a holistic approach, I believe that addiction stems from early-life adversity and trauma, causing individuals to seek belonging in substances or behaviors. I emphasize the importance of compassion, self-acceptance, and addressing underlying pain as key components of recovery. I do not agree with this cultures approach of criminalizing drug use and clearly see how this belief has done a disservice to people who ultimately need healing. Healing trauma through experiential therapy can be rewarding and life changing. I have an advanced degree in addiction treatment and prevention studies. My specialty in a world of addictions is a sexual addiction. In 2006 – 2009 I conducted research on cybersex addiction that was later published as a student book. I apply Dr. Patrick Carnes approach to a treatment and recovery from sexual addiction. I guide clients to understand the anatomy of their addiction and through stages of recovery. I navigate clients to explore and discover their perception and experience of intimacy and how to apply it successfully in their relationships. I have also extensive experience working with partners of sex addicts. Moreover, I work frequently with clients who are recovering from any kind of substance abuse addiction and maintaining sobriety.
