Addiction is a mental health condition and I treat addiction by a multi-pronged process predominately from a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) model. I help my clients understand the reasons they use a substance or engage in an addictive behavior, teach them skills regulate their emotions and tolerance distress that might otherwise lead them to engage in their addiction, and address any underlying issues that contribute to their addiction. I also help clients with with concerns about their substance use or compulsive behavior to avoid developing addictions.

Addiction is about more than alcohol, drugs, sex, food, etc. It’s an attempt to satisfy the lack of something deeper in our lives, and to cover over our pain. Addictions not only affect the person addicted, but they wreak havoc on our relationships. I work with addicted individuals as well as their partners or family members to help everyone cope with the addiction in ways that foster healing. I work with drug and alcohol addiction, gambling and sex addiction. I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT). My practice provides treatment for the Sex Addict as well as their Partners, and helps couples walk through each stage of the restoration process.
