I work with my clients to understand each person's unique goals and vision for recovery. I build upon established strengths as the foundation for change. Together we identify triggers and overcome obstacles on the road to recovery. I utilize both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) to treat chemical addiction and addictive behaviors. I will make referrals to other levels of treatment or providers as appropriate in order to help my clients have the best chance of meeting their goals.

Doing something despite its harmful effects on you is addiction. Craving or having a strong desire to do this behavior (when you try not to) is called withdrawal. You know if this describes your relationship to a substance (drugs, alcohol, food), or an activity (sex, gambling, internet). You can't hide behind so-called denial. You know. You fact that you searched for the word "addiction" (that's how you found me), tells you that you know. If you are searching because you have a friend or love one that you suspect has a problem, you have a choice to make. Will you hide your suspicions or will you tell them to get some help? I know addictions. Whatever your reason for reading this, I can help you decide what you want to do.

We have the solution utilizing a new cutting edge neuroscience-centered brain rebalancing system. Contact email@example.com or call 877-606-6161.

Additions are often our way of numbing ourselves to the daily realities of life. They are how we escape for a few minutes or a few hours. We know life will be there when we return, but we just want to pretend they won't and have a break. The problem is that addictions can become bigger than the challenges we were trying to avoid. When we feed an additions we rob ourselves of an opportunity to grow. We rob ourselves of the chance to face and overcome something we're afraid of. Addiction counseling at Sprout Family Clinics is about facing and overcoming what we've been avoiding; but with baby steps.

Recognizing that you have a dependence on something means that on some level you realize that you are not in control. This is the first step to regaining control of your life. Our addictions therapists are not tied to one method or definition of recovery, as everyone is unique and will have the greatest amount of success by working with the therapist to define what recovery means for them and then design the means of achieving it. Additionally, while working on recovery you and therapist will address the life issues that that contribute to the addictive behavior, while developing healthy coping and communication skills. We can help – you need not be powerless in your life.

I have worked wirh hundreds of substance abusers in the past, and I work with people who are abstinent and involved in a program such as AA or NA. Many times the substance abusers have an underlying psychiatric disorder and may be "self medicating" and I will make appropriate referrals for medication. All of the substance abusers that I have worked with have an underlying trauma or depression or unresolved grief.

One of the most amazing things is witnessing people free themselves from the depths of addiction. I use multiple treatment approaches to first help an individual stabilize the addictive process. Then I help them work to fully understand the underlying reasons as to why they are addicted in the first place to help avoid relapse. Stopping is only one part of the process - understanding is another.

Although substance abuse issues are primarily recognized as addictions, I am aware of the many other forms of addiction, such as gambling, sex, and internet. My philosophy is that any form of addiciton is simply a way for the individual to cope with their stressors. I would encourage the use of positive coping techniques; I would not be judgmental in any way. I believe that seeking assistance is a show of strength.
