Client will make a list of ways chemical use has negatively impacted their life & process this list with them. We verbalize the changes in lifestyle necessary to overcome chemical dependence. Client is encouraged to start a12 step program in or out of therapy. We will increase clients knowledge of the disease and the process of recovery and develop a brief, personalized treatment plan for relapse prevention. Client will improve quality of life by maintaining abstinence. Finally we will probe the client's feelings of depression & low self-esteem that may underlie abuse.
