Why do we use less than beneficial means to make ourselves feel good, or remove painful feelings? There are many reasons, though the most probable is, is that they are easy to obtain and they act so quickly. They give us a sense of well being that we often cannot, will not or resist giving ourself. Because we are often not taught how manage the stressors of life, the reactions to disappointments, the feelings self judgement, we often use various drugs to give ourselves those "Good Sensations" What we do not see in the beginning, is that it takes more to obtain the same high when we first started, though most importantly we do not look to see what we are doing to ourselves and why.
