Most often addictions are a symptom of pain. hurt , and loss of some form. The addiction serves to reduce this pain and suffering. This is often the downward spiral of the addiction cycle. Martin helps his clients reframe thier negative statements about themselves and then exposes the core beliefs that keep triggering their destructive and untrue beliefs about their whole character.

At one time, we used the "scruff of the neck" technique....picking someone up and dragging them to a treatment centre or a 12 Step meeting. Now I'm much more sophisticated in my approach...meeting a client or family at the point they are at. First we assess readiness, then we explore their specific needs, and then we develop a plan together. I find when I work collaboratively I get much better results!
