Anger management is probably the wrong way to describe how one deals with his or her anger. It doesn't do a lot of good to just repress our anger or try to put constrains on it. That's like lighting a stick of dynamite and then try and quickly wrap duct tape around it so it wouldn't explode or hurt anyone. To get to the root of explosive emotions take more than managing your anger. The scripture says "be angry and sin not". How in the world does that work?

Anger issues are often the sign that an individual has experienced a significant trauma or sense of loss in their life. Often times individuals, especially men, are deemed in need of anger management without much exploration into the underlying causes that may lead an individual to act out of a sense of fear, abandonment, or injustice. If you are an individual experiencing problematic anger in your life, talking to a trauma-informed therapist can help educate and empower a person to find more effective ways to deal with underlying issues that lead to anger.
