Anger is typically the most obvious emotion that people notice in a person, however, what they fail to realize is that often this anger is springing from a hurt or fear rooted deeply in a persons inner being. When we work with clients seeking "anger management," we don't attempt to cure the "anger." Our goal, instead, is to discover the root of the anger and facilitate healing in that root. It's only then that real change and peace will come. Tackling the "anger" isn't the solution --identifying and healing the hurt is.

My approach to anger management is helping clients find freedom from the anger. Many times it is necessary to help clients find the true source of their anger. There are many sources that can drive the anger. Developing new skills to manage the emotions behind the anger is important as well as developing new relationship skills that many times can lessen or prevent the anger from ever developing,

Bridgette has worked with many individuals on how to handle anger. She understands anger is a normal, healthy emotion, but when explosive, anger can spiral out of control & have serious impact on your relationships. She'll work with you to develop healthy tools to deal with your anger and also expose underlying "triggers" that fuel your anger, allowing you to deal with your anger in a healthy & manageable way and restore your relationships.

It is often said that anger is a secondary emotion; that there is more than the behavior that is seen at the surface. Through a client's story is where the root of the emotion exists. With proper guidance and support it is possible to gain insight into triggers, warning signs and learn alternative safe coping skills. Individuals deserve the confidence in knowing that you are in charge of your emotions and responses to them. Increased awareness and a plan of action can be key in managing emotional reactions out of anger. There is also room for growth in exploring the roots of persistent anger. Whether it be learned behavior, or unmet emotional needs from the past, you can thrive.

Noone reacts with anger/rage without a sense of hurt. This usually is a result of feeling disregarded or dismissed. The messages we get are typically- "you - are wrong, don't count, are invalid, invisible, unlovable, bad..etc." This triggers our core hurts. This core hurt reflects our personal issues... We are reactive to what we interpret and what we interpret are our own issues. What we miss and need to do is anchor our own core values to not react to what we interpret. In anger management we learn intentionally engage our core values and strengths rather then these core hurts. We learn to stop habitually reacting and start behaving intentionally.

I work with clients to both understand their angry responses and to improve their behavior. Anger results from our interpretation of situations rather than the actual situation. Anger can prevent people from develping strong connections in relationships. It is difficult to trust a person who frequently responds in an angry manner or whose anger can be out of proportion to the situation. I help clients become less angry so they can improve their current relationships and develop new ones.

Do you have difficulty controlling your temper? Do you lack a sense of inner peace? Anger is a healthy emotion, but when it gets out of control, it can become toxic. It destroys your work day; it hurts your relationships with the people you care about, and most importantly ~ it hurts you. Utilizing cognitive-based mindfulness strategies, I can help you learn how to modulate the thoughts and emotions that cause your anger, discover its roots, and help you live your life from a place of balance and authenticity.

Holy Spirit led Psychotherapist

Whether you need to complete an anger assessment or a specific number of "anger control" therapy sessions have been court ordered, I can help. I am a Certified Anger Management Specialist (CAMS) in the state of Georgia and can equip you with the tools needed to get your anger under control. As a former police officer myself, I too used to have anger issues that were "out of control." I wanted my life back and peace, learning to deal with anger was a part of the process.
