Anger impacts all relationships, especially the ones that mean the most to us. Why do we became particularly enraged at the ones we love most? Primarily because those whom we love are the ones we tend to have high expectations around. At Trinity, we use the five step process in anger management. We begin with an assessment, identify individual strengths and weaknesses, lay out a plan of action, eliminate old tapes, and build toward a better future. All of this is accomplished while working to improve relationships. Call Dr. Bob Montes for an appointment today.

My approach to anger management is helping clients find freedom from the anger. Many times it is necessary to help clients find the true source of their anger. There are many sources that can drive the anger. Developing new skills to manage the emotions behind the anger is important as well as developing new relationship skills that many times can lessen or prevent the anger from ever developing,

Anger is only the tip of the iceberg. Underneath its manifestations are often grief, emotional pain, shame, and loss. Often, anger is brought on by a sense of inadequacy or failure. I treat anger as a symptom of somewthing else that is painful and unsettling, not as a cause. In men, anger can often mask interior conflict and in many cases, depression. My approach to anger management is congitive and behavioral in scope, with insight into family of origin issues.

I get mad. You get mad. Your Mom gets mad. Your Dad gets mad. Hey, let’s face it, at one time or another EVERYBODY gets mad! Anger is a normal human emotion and it is the way that our minds release mental and emotional pressure (just like that pressure cooker mom has at home!), but sometimes this normal emotion can run amok and lead you astray when the “angries” make us say and do things that we don't really mean. Getting angry is normal, letting anger get the best of you is not. So how do you know if your anger is getting out of control and what can you do about it if you’re raging? Surprisingly enough recognizing and managing anger is relatively easy, at Thrive Counseling we work with children,....

Anger can be painful and its outcome hurtful. My approach to behavior management and core causes can help save relationships, avoid financial and job loss and reduce loss of freedom and choices. I offer practical techniques to replace ineffective anger responses, with deeper work to reduce the feeling of anger itself. Anger doesn't have to control you, you can control it.

Anger can stem from a variety of areas. I can help with determining where these feelings of anger are coming from and how to address them effectively. Through counseling, we can determine the roots of your feelings of anger whether it be from childhood or the present day and explore the effect it is having on your life. Then we can use this information to develop strategies for reducing these feelings and managing angry behaviors successfully.

I believe that uncontrolled anger is a symptom of a deeper issue and that everyone can, by attending to these issues, live a life in which anger can be felt and appropriately addressed. My clients explore these deeper issues and learn the skills needed to process and respond to his/her feelings of anger in ways that are constructive and honoring of the dignity of the person that they are. My clients are able to explore these issues in an environment that is non-judgmental, accepting and respectful.

Anger is a signal telling you that someone is not treating you well or that something is not right. The goal is NOT to never get angry. My approach is to help you understand why certain people or situations trigger your anger, identify and desensitize the root cause of those triggers. Upsetting experiences from childhood where we felt shamed, criticized, powerless, not listened to, ignored, not good enough or not valued, can trigger anger in present day situations. My approach incorporates EMDR Therapy, conflict management skills, and empathetic talk therapy to heal from relational trauma that is often at the root of anger. I welcome a call from you to discuss your situation.

Disagreements and conflicts are a normal part of dealing with the differences that arise in close relationships. There are personality differences, gender differences, and diferences of opinion on many issues. If we handle conflicts in healthy and respectful ways, we can grow in our ability to understand and accept those who respond to things differenctly than we do. However, when relational or marital conflicts results in turning love and affection into bitterness and hatred, or escalates into an emotionally destructive or abusive relationship, you may benefit from contacting LifeQuest Counseling for help with conflict resolution and negotiating and working out your differences.

Anger is often a cover for fear or sadness. Underlying most anger is a deeper emotion, one that feels paralyzing or helpless. Since sadness and fear feel weak, but anger feels strong and powerful, many people use anger to deal with depression or anxiety. My approach to anger is twofold: 1), to help you learn techniques on how to manage your anger and deal with people and situations that trigger your anger, and 2) to understand the feelings underlying anger and how to overcome those in order to reduce the amount of anger in the first place. Deciding to get help for your anger is a courageous first step toward jmproving your quality of life and your relationships.

The approach that I use for Anger Management has consistently helped my clients for several years. It is a very practical approach that uses between session activities, education and exploration in session to achieve rapid relief from the worst of anger in as little as 6 weeks. My role is as a guide to help look at these processes and what drives them in order to achieve more effective outcomes for meeting your wants and needs. Anger reduction can be quite significant and long-lasting, and addressing the core issues behind the anger, while optional, can lead to better long term relief.

I don’t believe in anger management. Anger shouldn’t be “managed.” I believe it should be expressed wisely. If you struggle with anger issues, I would bet you use your anger in destructive ways. I can help you learn constructive ways to express your anger. Contact me today to receive a free article I’ve written about anger management. Put an end to the destruction and construct healthier relationships with wisely expressed anger.

Very often people find that their angry outbursts surprise them (and those around them). This occurs most often because we haven't dealt with the real source of the anger. Clients often try to convince themselves that they are "over it" or that "it doesn't matter" when, in fact, they aren't over it and it does matter. I see this quite a lot in women - who tend to be socialize not to show anger. Therefore it leaks out in more passive aggressive and subtle ways. It's still anger - but it can be inflicted on herself or the true reason for the anger can be veiled making it difficult for others to figure how why there is an outburst.

The build up of anger can overflow into every aspect of our lives if not coped with adequately. For adults, anger can come between marriages, relationships, friendships, parenting, and our jobs. For children, anger is usually expressed through behavioral changes, defiance, and often affects a child's ability to perform well in school. These issues also make it difficult for children to form positive relationships. In helping my clients with their anger, I feel it is important to not only learn skills to cope with their anger, but also address the sources of their anger. My clients complete treatment, not only with the skills to cope with anger, but feeling less angry.
