Anger can eventually destroy a person's life. I have previously faced this challenge successfully, so I can empathize and help you complete your journey and WIN! To begin on your path to wholeness, you will profit from looking at the type of birth family in which you were raised; I will help you to successfully navigate this exploration. The tools you will gain along the way will enable you to choose what's right for YOU, rather than follow a path others might suggest that you take.

Anger is a legitimate emotion that all of us experience, based on real needs. If you never got angry, then you would not care about anything! Some of us know how to handle anger better than others. Anger is a complex emotion that is usually just the "tip of the iceberg" leading to other deeper emotions. The key to resolving anger is exploring those underlying emotions to know what we need. I use an integrative approach that looks at cognitive beliefs, and then focus on different emotions underlying your anger. I combine that with a focus on how emotions and relational trauma are stored in your body. We then envision a different future and practice effective coping strategies.

Anger can be a powerful emotion. Many times, it stems from unresolved pain. You see, if we choose not to feel sad or pain in our lives and think it will just go away, this does not work long-term. What tends to happen is that the feelings will leak out, usually as anger. I can show you the tools to not only manage your anger but also realize where it may truly be coming from. Please do not let your anger get the best of you.

It might seem sometimes that feelings of anger come out of no where, or they might feel as though they take possession of one's behavior and cause people to act in ways that they find abhorrent or shocking themselves. There are many possible triggers to anger. The cause might be due to a brain or chemical problem. There might also be other deep reasons, such as a history of childhood abuse, neglect, or barriers to self expression, that might result in an individual feeling that the only way to let certain feelings out is through aggressive expression. My approach is to clarify the nature of the anger in an open, nonjudgmental atmosphere so insight and transformation might then take place.

Much of my practice is devoted to teaching emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence has been defined as the ability to manage your emotions rather than have your emotions managing you. This doesn't mean stuffing or avoiding emotions. It means being aware of emotions and using the power of your emotions to be more effective in relationships and more effective in your influence with others. We teach mindfulness skill as a primary avenue to learning emotional self-control.
