I deal with anger issues only as they present themselves in conjunction with substance abuse. Hopefully, the substance user will come in to discuss the issues. If a family member is impacted by someone’s anger and suspect substance abuse I would want to meet with them to discuss possible routes to either help them cope or assist in helping the abuser to identify the abuse. Treatment is always an option if simply taking isn’t helping. I have been able to help my past clients actually see how substances are impacting themselves and their family with sobriety as the goal. Denial is a primary part of most substance abuse and can be dealt with if the individual will at least come to counseling
