What I do often when helping clients with anger management issues is to go back and see what emotional wounds are left unhealed. Sometimes, their are large gaps in the emotional needs that have never properly been met. This is usually where I find the "Real" problem that has turned out to look like an anger problem. Recently over a three week period I helped an adolescent girl resolve a past issue that left her looking oppositional and defiant. Now she is making peace with her mom!!! You can heal too!!!
Sheena Haddad, MA
“Anybody can become angry - that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way – that is not within everybody’s power and is not easy.” – Aristotle
I assist in educating and developing techniques that aim to unlock healthy reactions in response to justified emotions.
Joe Bavonese, PhD
We work with couples where verbal abuse is a component of how they express frustration, resentment and hurt. We help couples create a safe environment for these type of feelings to be expressed in a constructive manner, and teach a four-step process whereby you learn how to start discussing these hot topics; how you can process them constructively and ultimately reach a solution or resolution that is agreeable to both of you.
Aldeana Goodspeed, MA, MS, LLPC, CAC-M, CPS-M
I work out of a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy manual to provide a variety of interventions and techniques to control anger. Various coping skills are used to determine which would be most effective for you. Oftentimes, anger is a secondary emotion that becomes comfortable and easy to express. During therapy, you will explore the exact nature of your anger, and learn how to identiy feelings before resorting to anger.

Anger is a healthy and natural emotion when expressed in a mature and appropriate way. However, when anger is left untreated and gets out of control, it can lead to child abuse, domestic violence, as well as physical and verbal abuse.
Anger management counseling provides an opportunity to learn more about our anger. During the counseling process clients will gain an emotional awareness and learn problem solving skills, which improve a person's frustration and tolerance levels in stressful situation. The ultimate goal in anger management counseling is to improve the way we deal with anger in order to have and maintain good relationships especially with the one's we love.
Dorene Lilley, MA, LLP
Anger is destructive to relationships, both in the work place and at home. Many times expressed anger is a form of defensiveness against the hurts of life. In therapy, we will explore your history of anger outbursts, discuss the difference between rage and anger and explore the other 2 major emotions; glad and sad. Resources used include The Anger Workbook by Les Carter and The Lies you Believe and the Truths You Must Believe by C. Thurman. I encourage journaling and role-playing. In order to stop a certain behavior, one needs to learn to replace with healthier behaviors. Patterns of relating and living are explored and help will be offered to change and replace unhealthy anger patterns.

Cognitive Therapy is a form of anger management therapy that helps a person correct or change specific thinking that leads to destructive anger. Anger management is a procedure of acquiring skills to recognize signs you are becoming angry, and taking action to deal with situations in positive ways. In no way does anger management mean holding the anger in or trying to keep from feeling anger. Anger is a normal human emotion, a healthy one when it is expressed appropriately.
Robert Flewelling, Psy.D. LP
Aristotle famously stated that getting angry was easy, but doing so in the right way, and for the right reasons, and to the right degree was not so easy. To this day, those words are a truth. It is a problem that has yet to be universally solved, but instead, must be done individually, in the course of one's life. However, there are keys and tools and understandings that are universal. Providing these tools is a large part of my work, as I work extensively with men and women struggling with anger problems and domestic violence.

I have a Certificate in Anger Resolution. Anger is a natural human emotion in which "all" of us experience at one time or another in life. It is what we do with that feeling that is of concern. When anger turns inwards it becomes "depression" and when it turns outwards it becomes "aggression." What I do with my clients is help them to recognize and accept that anger is a secondary feeling meaning that underneath anger is a host of other feeling such as disappointment, hurt, betrayal, sadness, etc. yet in life we are taught not to express those feeling but to use "anger." For some, anger equates to aggressiveness which results in violence and other abusive behavior and others in depression
