Our thoughts and beliefs often create our stress and anxiety. The practice of mindfulness is an incredible to in learning about what we believe, often unconcously as well as our emotional patterns. EMDR is also a very effective tool for stress and anxiety. Anxiety is often a result of coping with past traumas. I help my clients to discharge the emotionality of past traumas and build their inner strength to cope with everyday stressors.
I believe in building a lot of resources with my clients before ever digging into the past with EMDR. I am also a big believer in giving my clients a wide range of tools to assist them in their everyday lives with stress and triggers.

I know how destructive and disruptive anxiety and stress can be. I have worked with post-traumatic stress disorder, resulting from childhood abuse, accidents and military service. I have also helped people overcome panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, general anxiety, and phobias.
As difficult as anxiety and stress are to experience, they can be treated and you can recover from them. I would be delighted to work with you to overcome anxiety and stress, which are among the most painful and distressing issues you can experience.

Most anxiety is your body trying to tell you of something that needs to be dealt with and solved. Sometimes the focus of the anxiety is not the real problem that needs to be faced. Fortunately, a lot of the time the source of anxiety is something in the past that no longer exists, even though mistaken thoughts give rise to feelings that are unnecessary any longer. Learning to mange anxiety is important, but to do so without trying to eliminate the anxiety and stress is short-sighted. Your life story should bring to light things you tell yourself that are inaccurate or no longer valid. That is very good news, and when you correct your thinking, your feelings will change.

Years ago I discovered some very important factors regarding anxiety and stress. Quite honestly I was always surprised when any of my clients were told by their personal doctor - or even Emergency Room doctors that there was nothing they could do to manage anxiety except take a prescription medication. When it comes to managing stress and anxiety it becomes important to identify what triggers the symptoms, understand what is going on and how to effectively manage it. It can be done!
