The client will implement positive self-talk to reduce or eliminate the anxiety. I will encourage the client to verbally identify fears, worries and anxieties. We help the client develop reality-based cognitive messages that will increase self-confidence in coping with fears & anxieties. By exploring these messages that mediate the anxiety response & retrain the client in adaptive cognition's. I will help the client get control of the anxiety by healthy self-talk used as a means of handling the anxiety. We than assist the client in developing anxiety-coping strategies (e.g., increased social involvement, contact with peers and physical exercise).
