Career counseling is provided in a variety of forms at James Foster & Associates. Clients are assisted in exploring difficulties they are experiencing on the job. Work place counseling is provided at our office as it relates to job related stress, anger, relational patterns, transitioning to new positions and the struggles that one encounters in leadership roles. The Clinician will work with the client to develop a treatment plan that is most appropriate and beneficial for a positive outcome. We will also work with employers and corporations that require consultation, EAP referrals and/or employee issues.

People aspire to certain professions because these professions often hold deeply personal significance. However, for the people I work with, there is often a discrepancy between what they had hoped they would be doing and what they actually do for a living. It may be meaningful in that they have been able to support a family but holds less meaning when examined from a personal perspective. Some of the most interesting work I have done is with people who resumed their quest for an authentic, meaningful professional life in their fifties, sixties, seventies, and eighties because they realized no matter how old they were that the work they did was vitally significant.
