Youth Connection is an intensive program for those individuals who suffer from addiction, but are also faced with the challenges of young adulthood. Teenagers and young adults, 18 – 25 years of age, who suffer from drug or alcohol addiction often find themselves dealing with additional pressures. They may have trouble with their workload at school, associate with delinquent peers, suffer from a lack parental supervision, or just generally exhibit feelings of inadequacy, poor self-image, or even depression. They have not learned the necessary skills that would otherwise enable them to cope with everyday life situations.

In some cases, a person can be in a particular career and feel unsatisfied, or as if their potential is not being used to the full extent. It is possible that, with some focus on this issue, one can develop new career goals and feel more hopeful about their future, in terms of employment and career advancement. And, there are times that a person is having an underlying emotional issue, and that is affecting their career success; counseling and/or an evaluation can help to identify the issues.

When I engage with a client in career counseling, we begin the process by identifying strengths, skills, and career goals. I do a comprehensive assessment in order to determine options for the client to consider. I discuss online resources for job searches, review the client's resume and cover letter or assist the client in creating each of them. During the course of counseling, we will rehearse the interview process. I will also suggest relevant reading and provide articles.
