My approach to career counseling is to first and foremost listen. No two people's career options are the same. Then I work with the patient to fully understand the options and goals. I find most patients 'know' what path they want to pursue unconsciously but conflicts over the choice make it difficult to admit. We then explore and fully try to understand this conflict so the choice can be made.

Some clients are confused about their hopes and abilities to pursue a certain profession. Many issues are stressful, especially when deciding how to pay for your education, and if relocation is necessary. Discussing these issues in therapy, combined with career assessment tools, can help pave the way for a better understanding and motivate you to achieve your goals.
