You will find our work together in counselling/ coaching very goal focused. We will met the aspects keeping you stuck head on! This work can range from figuring out your next steps to being concrete in your search and interview skills. Much of the work I have done to date has included learning more about the persons style and how to approach your career in a manner that highlights your skills rather then trying to fit you into the box you think you "should" fit into.

Understanding which career you are best suited for can feel like an overwhelming process. With the support of a therapist, you can explore your individual strengths, skills, and values and how these may apply to a fulfilling career. Having changed career myself I understand how important finding happiness in a career is. We spend a lot of time at work and it is often linked to our values and sense of self. It is important to feel like we have freedom in our decision to engage in a certain career and to explore the thoughts and emotions that make us choose a career. Spending time talking to me about this can give a sense of acceptance and an increased ability to work towards change if so desired.

Assessment tools can be very helpful in making informed career choices and developing a personalized career path but are best utilized along with an experienced counsellor. Psychotherapeutic tools such as EFT and Mindfulness Based approaches can provide depths of understanding one's self.

There can be a lot of pressure to figure out one’s career or to decide where one fits within a particular field. Oftentimes this is a winding road rather than a straight route. Within therapy, I will support you in identifying and exploring the values, goals, interests, and passions most important to you so that you can make decisions about your career that feel right to you. I will also work with you to process possible obstacles along the way such as (and certainly not limited to) challenging work dynamics, stress and burnout, and difficulties finding a work/life balance. To incorporate an SFBT approach to help clients identify their own resiliency from a strength based perspective. To use positive psychology language and focus on solution when clients may be wanting to explore other careers or feel stuck in their current one. To assist clients remember and identify past adversities and their history of overcoming situational challenges.

I have a PhD in leadership and policy and a background in business. I've had many jobs and careers from modelling, personal training, to a Bell operator and a Purolator driver. I've been in retail sales, and sold photocopies, PR, and software. I've been a teacher of primary/junior students, and professor in sales, and a professor in graduate education.
