Gaining a sense of control over one's life allows for increased confidence and self-esteem. I help clients build the motivation necessary to take steps toward a future filled with passion, thriving, and mental resilliance.

I can provide strategies for you to find new or different employment successfully. I'm not only a registered psychotherapist but I'm also a success coach. I have a PhD in leadership and policy and a background in business. I've had many jobs and careers from modelling, personal training, to a Bell operator and a Purolator driver. I've been in retail sales, and sold photocopies, PR, and software. I've been a teacher of primary/junior students, and professor in sales, and a professor in graduate education. To incorporate an SFBT approach to help clients identify their own resiliency from a strength based perspective. To use positive psychology language and focus on solution when clients may be wanting to explore other careers or feel stuck in their current one. To assist clients remember and identify past adversities and their history of overcoming situational challenges.

Your chosen career path is a reflection of where you want to go and what you want to accomplish in your lifetime. However, due to physical, mental, economic, familial, or emotional limitations, among others, it is possible that you may feel you are unable to work towards your desired career path. Additionally, it is possible that you may be unaware of what your career path might be. In career therapy, we will explore your interests, desires, strengths and challenges, your spirituality, education level and social, political or economical limitations, to discover what work might be meaningful, suitable and fruitful for you. We will then create a plan to work towards your desired career path.

There can be a lot of pressure to figure out one’s career or to decide where one fits within a particular field. Oftentimes this is a winding road rather than a straight route. Within therapy, I will support you in identifying and exploring the values, goals, interests, and passions most important to you so that you can make decisions about your career that feel right to you. I will also work with you to process possible obstacles along the way such as (and certainly not limited to) challenging work dynamics, stress and burnout, and difficulties finding a work/life balance. At times it is possible that People find themselves in a juncture in their lives where they have to chose a new career path. The choice may be a personal decision but it can also be due to reasons such as injury, job loss, or retirement. Having a therapist who can help you recognize your strengths and passions can be a helpful part of discovering fresh ideas about the next step.
