In career counselling, I assist individuals with exploration, change, and development. I help people explore their values, personality characteristics, and strengths. I assist in the transition from school to a career, a change in their current career, or the transition from their career to retirement. I also help people work through career-related struggles and challenges such as stress/burnout, confidence/assertiveness, and work/life balance.

Career counselling is usually a search for something different. A person wants to have an impact or have a purpose in this world. I have some experience helping people in providing life skills as a social worker. Thinking of a persons desire or goals helps to determine a potential career path along with fit with personality. Gaining insight and skills helps a person to move closer to a career.

You may also be looking to delve deep and assess your talents, skills, interests, personality or learning style. Learning more about who you are and how you want to spend the next decades of your life are all considerations in career counselling. Assessment tools can be very helpful in making informed career choices and developing a personalized career path but are best utilized along with an experienced counsellor. Psychotherapeutic tools such as EFT and Mindfulness Based approaches can provide depths of understanding one's self.

It is one thing to embark on a new career path, and a whole other to find the sweet spot of purpose, contribution, vitality and practical stability that leads to a really fulfilling vocation. The latter requires the courage to allow, shape and stay with a vision and the skills to navigate the inevitable peaks and valleys in confidence that are natural to the process. It is necessary to develop the ability to structure your own time toward your goal, maintaining the stability necessary to take new opportunities and creative risks.
