James Foster & Associates, COUNSELINGNH
540 Chestnut Street, Manchester, New Hampshire 03101
James Foster & Associates provides counseling for children. Some issues that are addressed are behavior problems, school issues, sibling rivalry, divorce, blended families, trauma and stress. The child's parent(s) will come for an initial intake appointment to provide background information of the problem area. The child would then be assessed by the clinician. Upon assessing the child, the Clinician will meet with the parent(s) to discuss the treatment plan and to move forward with play therapy. Parent's participation in either individual and/or collateral appointments may be necessary to process parenting experiences and difficulties with the child.

Most of my work with younger children happens within the context of family therapy. When I work with children individually, I use modalities that are primarily experiential in nature such as art and play therapy through which I more able to gauge specific developmental deficits and needs. In all the years I have been working with people, the most profound and lasting wounds resulted from attachment issues experienced as children who often merely want adults to be with them in a safe, affirming way.
