When children are hurting, they need someone who can speak their language. At all different developmental levels, children come with a unique way to express themselves that is unlike adults. They need to be met where they are at and cared for. Harvest House loves working with children. They have a voice and we would like to listen.

As a certified child centered play therapist, I am trained and enjoy working with children ages 3 and up. Using play therapy for children is like talk therapy for adults.. it is the best way children have to communicate their struggles and work through their feelings. A critical part of working with children is keeping communication going with you, the parent. Part of my treatment approach includes regularly scheduled consultations with you. I have designated play therapy space at my Syracuse and Rome offices, and look forward to talking with you about your child.

Do you have children that are acting out behaviorally? Has your child or young loved one suffered from a trauma they are not fully able to understand? Or perhaps you have noticed a marked shift in your child's emotions. Reach out to help your child today. I am here to evaluate the source of changes in your child and build trust and connection with them that will allow them to learn new ways of coping. Once evaluated I connect them with one of the three child/parent experts on my team where several modes of therapy will be utilized. This ensures a strong therapeutic match. Art therapy, Play therapy, and Family therapy are just the beginning. Affordability is our priority for families as well.

I work with children ages 13+ for anxiety and depression. Private therapy is not a recommended setting for children with risk of harm to self or others (a clinic setting with more supports and more hours than I offer would be the recommendation). For teens with general anxiety, social anxiety, and depression, therapy can help provide the support and validation needed to be able to improve self talk, thought patterns, and mood.

Working with small children means playing with them -- entering their worlds, observing how they interact with their worlds, and helping them maneuver through the many problems that affect their growth. This often means working with parents to establish stronger emotional attachments with the children and enhancing parenting skills. It also includes helping children to live in the present, mindful of their behavior and possibilities, with a sense of trust and hope. I often use hypnosis and mindfulness training to help children achieve a sense of calm and competence as well as new ways of behaving that enhance their relationship with themselves, their peers and their families.
