I work with young children in the context of their family dynamic. The greatest effect on the development of children are the family relationships, and then the relationships outside the family. It is powerfully transformative and healing to work in the family context to bring about healing and growing relationships. When that happens, everyone benefits.

Your child or children may be suffering for reasons that are unclear. Are your children constantly angry and oppositional? Are they often hyper? Are your children doing poorly in school? As parents, do you fear you won't be able to help your child with his or her "anger management." Using empathy and sensitivity, our professionals work individually with both children, adolescents and with parents with the goal to ending the problem behavior or lowering a child's anxieties.

Understanding and helping kids, parents and families is an area of specialization for me. Actually, I've written two books and multiple articles on this topic, taken a leadership role in developing mental health evaluation standards for kids in the state, given hundreds of workshops on doing this sort of work and do ongoing public education on kid and parenting topics (e.g., a blog at hecticparents.com and a weekly live parenting spot on WBRE-TV's PALive). Should you bring your child to me I promise to treat him or her as I would want one of my own kids treated and to be tireless in my efforts to understand, heal and advance the wellness of your child.

Similar to adult therapy, our therapy for young children is individually based. Our staff is specifically trained and certified for several forms of child therapy including play and art therapy techniques. Our relaxed and comfortable approach focuses on the child's strengths. This approach may often have the added benefit of increased self esteem in children, due to their increased self-awareness.
