We work with families that are struggling with little children. Often the parents are confused about how to provide the needed structure and love to give the children the security they need to really thrive in our crazy world today. Often we recommend the parenting training by Thomas Phelan 1,2,3, Magic. It is easy to learn and it really works. It is respectful of children but provides the structure to teach respect and to honor parental authority.

The practice of therapy to help children succeed is a collaboration between the parentsand the therapist. I can help you to help your child, and you can help me to help your child. The first appointment is usually just with the parent(s) or other guardian(s) so we can discuss your concerns and issues appropriate for adult discussion. The second session is generally with both the child and parents. The following sessions I might meet just with your child for a time or two. By the third or fourth appointment you and your child should feel comfortable and optimistic about therapy. At this point we will have decided on your goals and have a plan for services.
