David E. Frederick, PhD, NCTC-1
1218 5th Ave. – Suite 14, Huntington, West Virginia 25701
Often when children act out or are suffering some loss important to them, parents and others will console them or render what they believe to be excellent advice, and parents are then disturbed when they don’t get the results desired. Dr. Frederick will aid the parents or other caregivers in assisting the children by empathic listening and effective problem solving.

Healthy children start with healthy parents. Outside of otherwise direct biophysiological and/or developmental concerns, most childhood disorder is sociolgically rooted. And even when more physically based, the best compensation includes (outside of medication) assisting parents and care givers to help facilitate most adaptive change. Counselors thus work as much with the family as they do the child as the patient to arrive at desired emotional and behavioral changes.
