Young children learn and grow through play. I incorporate games, art, music, puppets, etc to help the children express themselves. You don't want your child just to respond to a paid therapist; you ultimately want them to respond to you! I treat children under the age of 12 in tandem with their parents. My goal isn't just to connect to the child, but to connect the parent(s) to the child. We will work on emotions identification and connecting deeply with everyone in therapy. I utilize exercises involving active listening, reflection, and age-appropriate expression. In early years, this is done through play, and then gradually transitions to verbal expression.

My master's degree (Cornell) is in child development. I have worked more than 40 years with families, agencies and schools on ALL child problems, including birth defects and all developmental and behavioral problems. As a family therapist, I help parents figure out alternative ways to deal with child and family issues, including things like foster parenting, adoption, intrafamily strife, sibling battles, etc. I offer child assessments - IQ, learning disability, slow learning, and all behavior areas.
