Although it’s called “play therapy”, it’s actually a specialized therapeutic approach that combines play and creative activities to help individuals explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. While it’s especially helpful for children, adults who find expressing themselves more challenging or who prefer creative or symbolic forms of communication can also benefit from play therapy. Why engage in play therapy? Taking good care of ourselves includes paying attention to the state of our mental health. Play therapy provides an opportunity for creative exploration of our feelings, and can help us become more attuned to them finding underlying themes and growing.

We provide counselling services to children aged five years and older, using an attachment-focused, play-based approach to therapy. We support children in processing their emotional experiences, strengthening their emotional literacy and learning effective skills for regulating their feelings. We also explore strategies their caregivers can incorporate outside of counselling sessions in order to support their children.

We offer eating disorder treatment to children and adolescents. We have a variety of therapists who specialize in working with youth and have experience integrating play, art, and nature based interventions to help children and adolescents recover in a holistic and long-lasting way. We also provide concurrent support and education for parents so that they feel equipped to help their child through this struggle.

Although many practitioners work with young children it takes specialized training to be effective. In my view, it also takes a lot of love, care, and attention!
