As the lyrics of a well know song acknowledges, children often have no familial voice with regard to their welfare and well-being. They are, to a great extent, dependent upon their caregivers for their emotional, relational and spiritual needs. At Chrysalis Connections Counseling and Training Center we recognize the special challenges children face and make every effort to honor and lift up the needs and wishes of our smallest clients. Giving our young clients a voice in the family process ensures a more complete family therapy experience and reduces the chance that these sometimes unheard voices will seek more definitive methods of being seen and heard.

Many children benefit from counseling when they have experienced a major life event which they may need help coping with. In working with children it is often important to use different types of strategies such as play therapy, games, and books which will allow the child to work through his/her experience. Often times it is important for the caretaker/s to take part in the therapy as well sometimes meeting separately from the child to help give insight to the counselor, so that she can help the child better.

Several Lives Transforming Counseling staff enjoys working with children and even specialize in the area. Play therapy, drawing, etc. help young children process their emotions and even at a young age they are able to see the logic of changing the way they think to feel better. Our team also provides support for parents as they reinforce counseling techniques at home.
