In my office, I have a play area in which I work with young children as young as age 5 all the way to tweens and teenagers. Through the use of play and art therapy, children can begin to express their feelings and learn to get in touch with their emotions. Children are more likely to open up through the use of games, craft activities, and art. When combined with family therapy, children can work through many issues that come up for many different family structures and adjustments such as divorce, separation, grief, school problems, conduct issues, and parenting or sibling issues.

Our adolescent program (ages 13 to 17) includes Intensive Outpatient treatment for substance abuse which is a mix of group and individual counseling. Although our program is 12 Step based, we find that best results can be achieved by focusing on values clarification and family issues, rebuilding trust and relationships. Our other focus areas include: goals and goal setting, relationships and boundaries, school issues, suicide prevention, anger management and problem solving skills. We also provide individual counseling for adolescents experiencing issues other than substance abuse.

Many times, child therapists overdo the family system in their quest to seek effective solutions for emotional, learning or behavioral concerns with young children. And many times doctors overpathologize issues that shouldn’t be medicated necessarily. This leaves parents wondering what is the best route for their child? Introducing brainwave optimization technology. A fast, effective, natural, and less expensive way to allow your child's brain to make the optimizing changes it desires to make---on its own!
