Marriage & Family Life services have a unique and sceientifically proven approach to child and adolescent therapy. We engage the entire family unit, especially parent(s) and sibling(s) in a family systems approach. Then, if necessary, we involve school teachers, grandparents, other caretakers, etc. in fully evaluating the best counseling approach for the identified child/teen. Most young clients are highly receptive to our counseling.
Sean Jackson, MA, LMHC
In working with children, I utilize a psychodynamic modality of treatment, including play therapy, as the primary way of purposefully engaging your child to discover and understand more about the cause of their current difficulties. I typically provide a treatment plan for the parent/s that details what it is I am doing and why. I also believe it is incredibly important in working with children to include the parent/s as often as possible and include that in the treatment plan. If your child is struggling in a way that is confusing to you and causing you distress, it may be helpful to discuss further and find out if your child could benefit from meeting with me.

Just by seeking help and moving towards overcoming the issues you are facing with your children or youth you will benefit from the help provided from child counseling. As your therapist I will help you discover the tools & needed communication skills to help you overcome whatever situation you are facing that is causing you to suffer. My responsibility is to provide you a safe & neutral environment for youth to work through & grow towards overcoming their current issues along with developing coping skills in other areas that are challenging them.

I provide counseling to young children from age 6 and up. I also provide counseling to adolescents. I work with children with behavioral challenges, ADD/ADHD, anxiety, depression, Tourette's syndrome and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. I use play therapy methods and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques along with psycho-education and parent management training to help children and families reduce stress and increase functioning in their lives. I also consult with schools and care providers to help maintain the child's success and improvements at managing her/his behaviors.
Courtney Boyer, MS, MEd, LMHCA, NCC, CSE
Unlike any time before, we have seen a drastic increase in the number of children suffering from mental illness and behavioral issues. As a parent or caregiver, this can be an overwhelming task to take on. We work with children and their families to help bring about change through education and understanding. Family relationships are a critical factor of an individual’s mental well-being. Children learn from what they see those around them doing, so I consider the entire family system when working with children.
I have also been trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children who have experienced trauma (sexual abuse, child abuse, etc...).
