Jonathan Gerard, DMin

Rabbi, DMin

208 Sunset Dr, Chapel Hill, North Carolina 27516

Religion and psychology have much in common, but this is where they part: Religion seeks to convince you how to live. Psychology seeks to help you live more autonomously. I do not see how this gap can be bridged, although in my couples therapy I use an almost religious model in that the more one understands and honors one's partners needs, it frees the partner from anxiety and he or she can therefore more easily meet the other's needs.

I believe in Jesus Christ as my personal Lord & Savior; I believe in His forgiveness of my sins for my salvation. The Bible is my ultimate authority & the lens through which I view pain & struggles, as well as healing, reconciliation & restoration. I offer my graduate education in Christian Counseling as well as my experience integrating theology & psychology to clients who desire to incorporate their faith into therapy. If clients desire, I use prayer & Scripture in counseling sessions. Maria Russell, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

Salisbury, North Carolina 28146

Christian Counseling is the foundation in the work I do as a therapist. No matter what a client may be going through, I work with them to meet them where they are spiritually - very directly at times incorporating prayer, Bible verses and Biblical concepts; or indirectly, using foundational beliefs woven into the techniques and interventions I use in sessions. I believe it is vital to a person's growth and healing to understand the power of finding Christ in all situations and using that knowledge to overcome their obstacles.
