How you think about God influences how you make sense of what happens to you and how you deal with it. When bad things happen to you or those you love, spiritual searching is natural. Life sometimes forces us to explore and revise our beliefs. We feel pushed to let go of outworn ideas that no longer apply, so we can access new truths . Dr. Staat will help you with this process. You will find answers to difficult questions and have an opportunity to develop a closer relationship with Spirit. Making room for the spiritual in daily life can be a key part of the therapy process.

I believe that a well trained therapist can be a Christian counselor. I value faith and see the benefits of a family who focuses on their beliefs and values. Faith based services can be incorporated into other interventions to increase coping skills, positive communication, trust. I provide a nonjudgmental environment and will explore your values and assist you in meeting your personal and spiritual goals.

I believe in Jesus Christ as my personal Lord & Savior; I believe in His forgiveness of my sins for my salvation. The Bible is my ultimate authority & the lens through which I view pain & struggles, as well as healing, reconciliation & restoration. I offer my graduate education in Christian Counseling as well as my experience integrating theology & psychology to clients who desire to incorporate their faith into therapy. If clients desire, I use prayer & Scripture in counseling sessions. Incorporating one's personal faith into therapy greatly increases the healing & change one can experience from counseling because we are actively inviting the Lord's presence into the counseling setting!
